Last Spring my oldest and dearest friend, Lara Trespalacios married her beautiful wife, Regina. I was sadly unable to attend their wedding in Miami and was ecstatic when Lara asked me to be their witness during their elopement in NYC.
We arrived to the court house bright and early to beat the line of other newly weds. Greeted with a ticket number and cups of coffee we entered the court house on Centre street. We all laughed and joked how similar the court house resembled the DMV. Although our visions of a romantic court house elopement were slightly altered, we were there and it was great.
Naturally, we celebrated afterwards! We gathered with another friend at Buvette and shared small plates of eggs, cheese and champagne.
Lots of bubbles and hugs later we wandered the village, enjoying the last bit of Spring. As they hopped into a cab uptown I was reminded of the magic the city holds.
