Photographing a NYC wedding during the spring is so much fun. We were so excited to shoot Holly & Yun’s City Hall wedding this past May. Holly & Yun flew in from London for a small intimate wedding with close family & friends. They stayed downtown at the Bowery Hotel in Manhattan — a gorgeous staple in the East Village (our old home) and such a cool space to shoot in.
We shot Holly & Yun’s getting ready photos and first look at the Bowery Hotel. We also shot some very cool portraits outside at the Bowery Hotel restaurant Gemma. Gemma has a green tiled wall outside that is great to shoot against and adds a unique texture and character to the wedding portraits.
The City Hall ceremony was surprisingly quick for the spring weekend. Afterwards, we cabbed it to one of our favorite spots in the West Village to take some more portraits of Holly & Yun. While we were walking down Grove St. we passed one of our favorite buildings with a beautiful garden in the gated courtyard. Every time I walk through the West Village I pass this building and stop to peak through the gate admire the unique atmosphere. One of the owners of the building happened to walk by and invited us in to take some photos in the garden! It was a such a cool ‘New York’ type of moment.
We took some great ‘city’ shots of Holly & Yun walking through the village before heading to EN restaurant for the reception. We joined Holly & Yun’s family & friends for an amazing dinner. We felt so honored to spend the day with Holly & Yun documenting their wedding & celebration. It felt like exploring the city with close friends on a gorgeous spring day!
